This video is not at all correct. What determines layer amount is RAM size, not the overall storage on the iPad. Please do not be misled by this video.
I had an ipad once, it suddenly stopped working. The screen wouldn't register touch of any kind. I lost all the art on it as procreate doesn't upload to the cloud automatically, i'd have to manually save. I never thought this would happen randomly, but one day, as I was using it, it just… stopped. I also discovered, as nice as Procreate is, people really sleep on clip studios. I had used Clip on the ipad. I got unlimited layers and it didn't really bog down my ability to draw. The very slight lag I'd get with line art was barley noticeable. The only time lag came to play was the size of the bush vs the canvas size. Max brush size on some larger brushes would lag, but even XP-pen tablets will do that.
I came here to try and scope out the ipad art world again. I'm a bit afraid to invest in another Ipad from the experience I had before. Even more daunting is the price. Also storage has nothing to do with layers, i'd invest in ram. If storage is your concern, get an external hard drive, it's cheaper to just buy a 1 or even 5 TB EX HD from newegg or back market than to spend it on the ipad. [also buy the Ipad and pen from back market. way cheaper.]

DO NOT BUY A16 iPad. You mine as well buy the iPad Air and use the Apple pro pencil. Apple sucks. They don’t even accommodate with justifiable prices for the add-on tools that we have to continue to update and purchase so that they work with the iPad or iPhone devices. This shit is getting out of control and they should be sued for this shit. Only reason why I use apple is because of my job and there’s no other tablet that draws as good as iPad but I’m sick and tired of this shit.
To be quite fair, I recommend you all to just pick the biggest you can get, with more space you can get. Until 4 days, I had my 12 year old 6th gen model, and now I'm using the 11th gen. The screen is much bigger (11 pols) and 3 times the space.
It's easier to have a Pro model in USA, compared to Brasil, so maybe you should go after it, if you can

If you are just getting started with art skip this vid. You do not need to spend thousands of dollars on an iPad. The old models are totally fine, professional artists used them 2 years ago, 5 years ago, 10 years ago. Please do not feel pressured to spend 5x or 10x more than you need to.

my 7 year old ipad mini 5 with 64 gb in the F tier works GREAT up until today btw. unless you’re looking to be an industry professional, you dont need any expensive model. i do freelance commissions on the side for nearly 6 years now and my mini 5 never once disappointed me! while im no professional by textbook standards, im quite experienced and all i can say is to not let these kinds of vids that force you to buy expensive models fear monger you.😉 if you want a cheaper model and you’re anywhere from a beginner to a serious hobbyist or even a casual freelancer, then buy a cheaper model! but if you can afford the air or pro models, then go ahead since they are a step better, but at the end of the day, the base model or even the older models wont disappoint you either! i think i’ll let my mini 5 run for 1-2 more years before i upgrade!
