My installation was totally different. I had to register and pay for continued access. Don’t see any way to move any files with my MacBook Air 2017. So still not sure how to use???

I just bought the same drive yesterday. I have a MacBook Pro (2014 Retina display) running Sierra 10.12.6. Yes, it's that old and it works fine for my needs. All I had to do was use Disk Utility to format the drive (Mac OS Extended-Journaled) and I was up and running in less than a minute. If I ever need to buy a more current Mac I'll save your video to walk me through the process. A lot more complicated than what I'm used to.
