I wonder why nobody is talking about the coil whine on the m5 pro. I got 16 inch and can feeel it has some sort electric noise from below keyboard whenever GPU kicks in. Is it new normal with macbooks?
Even when you are full at home, dont go 16… its just too bulky, heavy. U wont get much done having 2 inches more dude. Dont fool yourself. Go 14 and buy second monitor to do double your work. I own both, trust me – u cant go wrong with 14 inch
can you test the m5 pro with quality heavy work like 8k video editing or after effects /blender ?

I want 16 inch MacBook Pro but budget does't allow it now 😂
I just had 2 of the M5 Pro 18 core chips in front of me,(Same cores as Max) a 14" and a 16".
I ran cinebench multicore for 10 mins.
Cinebench had a comparison chart of other processors.
The 14" scored comparable numbers to the M4 Max often going below it. I would call it the same or a hair lower.
The same chip in the 16" got 1000+ points higher than the M4 Max. This happened much sooner than 10 minutes by the way. I let it go the ten mins as thats reasonable thermal soak. They both might have throttle more if longer but it was still close to thermal equilibrium.
The 14" stayed below the M4 Max and peaked one time above it while the 16" stayed above the M4 Max the entire time.
So the cooling 1000% makes a difference
The scores if I recall correctly were around 7400 ish for the 14" and 8600 for the 16"
What about fan noise and heat? 14 vs 16 … That's all I care about 🙂

what a joke… 14 can not handle m5 max, it's throttling. fans cant keep up even at max speed. there is 10-20%(-30%, some say it can be even more on some bursts of compute) pure performance diffrence on longer and heavier tasks. Also it's limited in power – 14 inch get only to 100W charging, while 16inch can charge 140W. that means even when plugged working hard 14 inch will be going down on battery, m5 max can pull way more.
I got both, trust if youre at home all the time yes get 16, if you travel a lot bro pleaae get the 14 trust

Pump a little bit more iron. What's up with all this guys-mostly- and some gals who complain about a "heavier laptop?" Get out and do some real work, learn how to dig-yeah right, use a shovel, use a hammer-build a house-mix & pour some concrete. Oh yeah, the same crowd today spends tons of dollar$ at expensive gyms, gets special protein expensive powders, protein candy bars, but a little 16" laptop weighs too much for them! 😎😎
The consequences of those 2 extra inches in thermal, and therefore, performance under sustained load, are far from negligible 😬
The heat dissipation on a 16" is far better for the Max chip. You have no choice but to get the larger model because you'll experience thermal throttling. If you don't require the ultra performance, the single fan M5 14" is just perfect for most users.
16 inch always the way to go. It’s a beast. The bigger screen and louder speaker. Plus longer battery. It’s more but it’s investment long term. Too many ppl complain about it’s too heavy. It’s really not. Not like you’re carrying in your hand all day lol.
