The A18Pro-based “budget” Macbook should be no worse than the M1 in all performance metrics except Thunderbolt, but as far below $1000 as possible. It is supposed to bring more customers into the Mac ecosystem, so it should still be a high quality product and not compete with craptastic Chromebooks on price alone. Education customers should be getting a 12-month subscription to Creator Studio plus a 200GB iCloud storage plan rather than a cash discount. A higher price with an early bird special discount would address the higher RAM & SSD purchasing cost in Q3.

i really love that they introduce budget macbooks. they will be powerful enough for low-demanding work and sufficient for most people. just hope the screen is not total shit and unlit keyboard would be the dealbreaker for me.

Bro the cheap macbook is made for students and people who just want a machine that works. I promise you they would not know what tf read/write speeds, thunderbolt vs type c, headphone impedence and all this other nerdy stuff. Duh it will obviously not have those things to achieve that pricepoint

I love how these companies who make Billions of dollars feels they have to raise prices? Like god forbid if you make 99 billion instead of a 100. I mean never once can do the right thing for the only reason you’re rich? Your customers?
