The main special feature of Apple’s iPhone 17 40W charger is the introduction of the PD3.2 AVS protocol. Why does Apple use PD 3.2 but abandon PPS charging technology?
Most Android flagships on the market use PPS (Programmable Power Supply, which is a PD3.0 extension), and can adjust the voltage in careful steps between 3.3V and 21V to achieve high flexibility.
On the contrary, Apple adopted another upgrade path for iPhone, directly using the SPR AVS added in PD3.2, with a range of 9V~15V/20V, and there is no PPS constant current mode. To do this? There may be two reasons:
