It has been confirmed that iOS26 allows for two-way export of eSIMs between iPhone and Android smartphones. It is believed that Apple developed this feature in conjunction with Google. If you are using an eSIM, it seems that switching between your iPhone and Android will be smoother.
“Transfer to Android” and “Transfer from Android” are now available on iOS 26
Developers who have installed the iOS26 developer beta report that “Mobile Communication” menu in the iPhone’s Settings app show “Transfer to Android” and “Move from Android.”
Tap “Transfer from Android” to display a 2D code for scanning with the Android smartphone camera.
The developer who discovered “transfer to Android” is apparently using US Mobile’s Dark Star eSIM. It is unclear whether this forwarding feature will be available to all carriers in the future.
Is Apple and Google working together to develop it?
Apple is believed to be developing a two-way transfer function with Android in conjunction with Google.
In May, the Android 16 beta, which was announced before iOS26, caused a stir when the statement “transfer to Android” was discovered.
Up to iOS 18, only eSIM transfers for iPhones
From iOS16 to iOS18, the function to transfer eSIMs to nearby iPhones was provided, but in order to transfer eSIMs between an iPhone and an Android smartphone, there was a need to have the telecommunications carrier issue a transfer code.
iOS26 and Android16 will make eSIM migrations easier between devices, making it easier for eSIM users to switch devices.
