Leaker Digital Chat Station has posted a prediction on Weibo about design changes since the iPhone 17 series.
Digital Chat Station expects the 2027 iPhone to be equipped with a camera embedded under the screen.
Main design changes for iPhone 17-19 series
The main design changes made by Digital Chat Station for the iPhone 17 series to iPhone 19 series are as follows.
- iPhone 17 Series: Rear design changed, rear camera bumps become horizontal
- iPhone 18 series: Equipped with a punch hole design display, with embedded under-screen Face ID
- iPhone 19 Series: Full screen, Equipped with a camera embedded under the screen.
Rumors that foldable iPhones will first install a camera embedded under the screen
The iPhone18 Pro series uses a built-in Face ID, and there are rumors that the front camera will be installed in the top left of the display, and will have a punch hole design, so Digital Chat Station’s predictions are consistent with that.
Also, Digital Chat Station predicts that the front camera on the main display side of the folding iPhone, which is rumored to be released in 2027, will be embedded under the screen, so it is no surprise that the 2027 iPhone 19 series will have an embedded under the screen camera.
However, since the number of units shipped will be different for folding iPhones and straight iPhones, it may be that the installation of a subscreen embedded camera on a folding iPhone with a small number of units shipped may be a pre-emptive adoption in preparation for the supplier to complete preparation for expanding the production scale.
After the Pro series adopts new features, it has been turned into a base model one year later.
