Ahead of the general release of “iOS 27” on September 15, Apple has decided to postpone two new features that were implemented during the beta test period, “password auto-repair” and “smart suggestions” for the Messages app, in the initial release, and will gradually provide them in future software updates.
This change is not limited to iOS27, but pages for each platform such as iPadOS27 and macOS are also updated.
Two new features postponed
Smart suggestions feature in Messages app
This feature uses Apple Intelligence to read the context of interactions in the Messages app in real time and suggests related actions such as sending a photo or adding an event to a reminder, memo, or calendar.
This feature was scheduled to be provided in English, so it was not available in Japanese in the early days of iOS27 release. However, as the English release has been postponed, the Japanese version may also be delayed further.
Automatic password recovery feature
This is an advanced feature that combines Apple Intelligence and Safari to automatically update and correct website passwords in the background when the Passwords app detects a password that is vulnerable or has the potential to be compromised, without requiring the user to change it themselves.
It was a hot topic that this feature was no longer available in developer beta 5, but due to changes to the iOS27 website, the postponement has now been officially confirmed.
Future schedule
iOS27 will be released to general users on September 15th, but the above two features will not be included in the initial version. Apple’s guidance does not specify a specific release date, but states that it will be addressed in a future software update.
