A useful reference for predicting the release date of the next OS is the distribution dates of official iOS versions over the past four years. If you check according to Japan time, the last four generations are all distributed around 2:00 am on Tuesday.

- iOS18: Tuesday, September 17, 2024 around 2:00 a.m.

The official version of iOS18 and macOS Sequoia will be released on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, Japan time, and the official version of major OSes such as iOS26 and macOS Tahoe 26 will be released on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
Considering this trend, a strong candidate for 2026 is around 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15th.
Will iPhone 18 Pro be released on September 18th?
The iPhone 18 Pro series, which is expected to be released with iOS 27, is expected to be announced at the event “Good Morning World.” to be held from 2:00 a.m. on September 10, 2026 Japan time.
Reservations will be accepted on September 11th (Friday) or 12th (Saturday), and the likely release date is September 18th (Friday). Considering that the official iOS versions for the past four years have all been distributed around 2 a.m. on Tuesdays in Japan time, and considering that the new iPhone is expected to be released on Friday, September 18, around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15 seems to be a strong candidate release date.
