Xiaomi officially announced the launch of the international version of the Redmi Note 17 series, with the focus of much attention falling on the Redmi Note 17 Pro and Redmi Note 17 Pro Max models. As the successor to last year’s Redmi Note 15 Pro series, this generation abandoned the commonly used 200-megapixel lens and focused its upgrades on larger-capacity batteries and faster charging technology. At the same time, the entire series is equipped with Snapdragon 6 series processors. The specifications of these two new phones are slightly different from the versions previously unveiled in the domestic market.
In terms of body design, the two new phones still maintain a thickness of 8.6mm despite the large built-in batteries. The front is equipped with a 6.83-inch 120Hz OLED screen, with a maximum brightness slightly increased to 3,500 nits, and is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Although this generation does not have IP69K certification, it retains the more practical IP66 and IP68 dustproof and waterproof specifications for daily use. Officials also say that it has the ability to resist water immersion in 3 meters of water for 72 hours.
Battery life is the biggest upgrade of this generation. Redmi Note 17 Pro has a built-in 8,340mAh silicon carbon battery and supports 67W fast charging; while the higher-positioned Redmi Note 17 Pro Max is equipped with up to 10,000mAh silicon carbon battery and 100W fast charging. Officials say it only takes 20 minutes to replenish a day’s power. Both have reverse charging functions, greatly increasing their practicality.
In terms of hardware specifications, the Pro version uses the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chip; the Pro Max is upgraded to the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 processor using TSMC’s 4nm process. Its 256GB and 512GB versions also use UFS 4.1, which is faster to read and write. In terms of photography, the entire series uses a 50-megapixel OIS primary lens coupled with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle. The Pro Max has a larger 0.8µm pixel sensor and a large f/1.5 aperture.
The new machine comes preloaded with HyperOS 3 system, and the manufacturer promises to provide security updates for six years. In terms of price, the international versions of Redmi Note 17 Pro and Pro Max start at US$400 and US$500 respectively.
