Recently, I use my iPad to watch YouTube. If I suddenly find that all the video information has disappeared after exiting the full screen, don’t immediately think that my iPad is broken. A bug recently broke out in the YouTube App. After some iPad users watch a video in full screen, as long as they switch back to the normal playback screen, the video title, description and comment area will disappear altogether. Google has confirmed this issue and is investigating.
On online platforms such as Reddit and the official YouTube community, iPad users have complained about this problem. Everything works fine when watching videos at the beginning, but as soon as they enter full-screen playback and then exit, the bug may appear. Even if it temporarily returns to normal after restarting the YouTube App, it will be abnormal again after entering full screen to watch videos.
Google confirms “known issue” and official investigation begins
In response to user complaints, Google has listed this issue as a “known issue” on YouTube’s official community and stated that it currently mainly affects iPads. The team is actively investigating and will update the instructions once further information is available.
Before Google officially fixes it, some netizens found a temporary solution. As long as the screen rotation lock is turned off first, and then the iPad is turned from landscape to portrait, the content that originally disappeared will reappear; however, once it is turned back to landscape, it may disappear again. Therefore, this method can only provide temporary relief. If you want to completely solve the problem, you still have to wait for Google’s official fix.
As for the cause of the bug, Google has not announced yet. It is speculated that the problem may be related to version 21.32.4 of the iPad version of YouTube App launched last week. It is worth noting that YouTube has released the latest version 21.33.5 today (20th), but judging from the latest reports from users, this bug seems to have not been resolved.
