Qualcomm is expected to officially launch a new generation of flagship mobile platform Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 Pro at the Snapdragon Summit next month. Although it is still some time before its release, this new chip, internally codenamed SM8975, has been first exposed in the AnTuTu 11 test database and attracted attention with a score of 4.83 million points.
According to the test data currently leaked, the total AnTuTu score of Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 Pro reached 4.83 million points. For reference, the general running scores of smartphones equipped with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 on the market currently range from 4 million to 4.6 million. Judging from the book figures, the current test performance increase of the new chips is about 5%. Since most of the leaked data belongs to the results of early engineering machines, and the hardware adjustment and system optimization have not yet been completed, this preliminary running score number is only for reference. It is expected that the actual performance of the final mass-produced version will have room for further improvement.
Market news points out that the new generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 series will be divided into two models: standard version and Pro version. Both are also expected to use advanced 2nm process technology. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether all foundry orders will be handed over to TSMC or SAMSUNG. In terms of architecture, news indicates that the entire series will be equipped with a new generation of Oryon processor cores and adopt a “2+3+3” cluster arrangement configuration. As for image processing capabilities, it is rumored that the standard version will be equipped with an Adreno 845 GPU with a built-in 12MB cache, while the higher-positioned Pro version will be upgraded to an Adreno 850 GPU, and its image memory will be increased to 18MB to cope with more complex high-load graphics computing requirements.
As the release date of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 series approaches, the first batch of flagship products equipped with this new chip are also ready for launch. It is understood that Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 Pro will be the first to be used in a number of upcoming high-end mobile phones, including Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, which are expected to be launched around September.
