It has been widely rumored that Sony has registered the next-generation model Xperia 1 IX in the IMEI database. One of the factors that can determine the subsequent product route seems to be the strong performance of the current generation Xperia 1 VIII in overseas markets.
Earlier, Japanese media ITmedia Mobile interviewed Ike Shohachi, head of SONY’s global market sales imaging communications marketing MC1 department. The latter said that Xperia 1 VIII has performed strongly in local and overseas markets.

Chi pointed out that the Xperia 1 VIII Natural Gold 1TB version has enriched the product line. The newly added “AI-assisted composition” has been well received by users, while retaining microSD and 3.5mm expansion have become the series’ unique key advantages.

When asked about the situation of the Xperia 5 series, Chi said that he understood that there is market demand for the 100,000 yen (approximately HK$5,000_) model, but the brand is currently focusing on the flagship 1 series and the cost-effective 10 series, and has no expansion plans yet.
Mobile Magazine’s short comment: The current market response to Sony’s mobile phones, which focus on high-end (1 series) and mass-oriented (10 series) phones, is good. In particular, the former still maintains good performance despite high prices, which shows that it is heading in the right direction.
