Asus announced at the beginning of this year that it would withdraw from the mobile phone market and shift its development focus to AI products. As a result, its ROG Phone and Zenfone series stopped launching new phones. However, the latest exposure of a piece of engineering machine firmware gives the outside world a glimpse of the specifications of the ROG Phone 10 series, which was originally under development but ultimately missed the market.
There have been previous rumors that before Asus announced its withdrawal from the mobile phone market, it actually continued to develop new products, such as the ROG Phone 10 series. However, as the company’s strategy changed, the plan was finally stopped.
Engineering machine firmware exposed, ROG Phone 10 specifications revealed
Foreign media Notebookcheck obtained a copy of the engineering prototype firmware, revealing the detailed specifications of the ROG Phone 10. According to the information, the internal development code of the two mobile phones is “Boston” and they share the model number AI2601. The leaked firmware content includes complete camera configuration, processor and connection specifications.
The firmware shows that the ROG Phone 10 series will originally be equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and support Sub-6GHz 5G network, UFS 4.0 storage specification and LPDDR5X memory and Wi-Fi 7. Wi-Fi uses Qualcomm WCN7750 wireless chip.
As for the camera, the overall configuration is not much improved compared to the previous generation, mainly due to changes in the sensor. Taking the ROG Phone 10 Pro as an example, the 50-megapixel main lens uses OmniVision OV50Q, which is upgraded to 1/1.3 inches. It is larger than the previous generation and can theoretically bring better light intake and night shooting performance. However, the main lens of ROG Phone 10 has been changed from Sony Lytia 700 to Sony IMX766, which seems to be a downgrade.

The authenticity cannot be confirmed if it is not officially announced by ASUS.
However, these specifications come from the firmware data of the engineering prototype and are not officially announced by ASUS. Since the ROG Phone 10 series has been canceled, it will not be confirmed in the future whether these configurations are the official specifications originally expected to be launched.
