Apple’s autumn conference will debut in about two months, and new products such as the new generation iPhone 18 Pro series and the first folding iPhone are expected to be unveiled simultaneously. However, affected by the rising cost of components such as memory, Apple fans may not have the advantage of “waiting” this year. Price increases for new phones are almost a foregone conclusion, and previous-generation phones may not be able to wait for price cuts.
According to market research data cited by Jiesheng Communications, from the launch of the iPhone 17 series and iPhone Air in September 2025 to May 2026, cumulative sales of new and used iPhones in Taiwan exceeded 1.97 million units, an increase of 12% from 1.76 million units in the same period last year. Among them, the iPhone 17 series and iPhone Air accounted for up to 89% of sales, showing that even in the later stages of product launch, buying momentum is still quite strong.
The follow-up of channel exposure will continue to be limited
Jiesheng Communications analyzed that as the iPhone 17 series continues to sell well, and Apple has gradually tightened the supply of old phones, channel inventory is also becoming less and less. Therefore, it is estimated that the overall empty machine price of the channel will be difficult to fall by more than 10% in the future.
Among them, although the iPhone 17 Pro series only has an average price reduction of about 7%, it supports 58% of iPhone sales in Taiwan. The market generally expects the price of the iPhone 18 Pro series to increase, which has also prompted many consumers who were originally waiting to switch their phones in advance, further boosting sales.

The sales performance of the iPhone Air has always been relatively flat. Recently, due to price cuts offered by channels, buying sentiment has obviously picked up. Among them, the 256GB version has successfully entered the top ten of the best-selling iPhones in Taiwan. If you need to replace your phone in the near future and want to control your budget, the iPhone 16 series, which has seen a significant price reduction, is still a good choice. For example, the iPhone 16 128GB can be purchased for about 20,000 yuan.
On the other hand, if you plan to wait for the new phone to be released, first observe the price increase, and then decide whether to buy the new phone or buy the previous generation, Jiesheng also reminds that it may be too late by then. Take the iPhone 18 Pro as an example. After the launch of the new model, Apple’s official website will definitely remove the iPhone 17 Pro series. In addition, the official has already begun to tighten supply, and the channel stock continues to decrease. Therefore, if you wait until after the press conference to make a decision, you may be waiting for “the previous generation is not available in stock.”
