According to the latest revelation from well-known tipster DigitalChatStation, HONOR’s new flagship Magic 9 series, which is expected to be officially unveiled in October this year, is currently actively testing a new technology called “AI Magnetic Back Screen”. This design is similar to the HONOR 600 series launched earlier, and is expected to bring a more convenient daily operation experience to this annual flagship.
The biggest selling point of this AI magnetic back screen in testing is that users can directly perform specific shortcut operations through this external small screen without unlocking the main screen of the phone. In fact, detachable back screens are gradually becoming a new trend in the mobile phone market. Xiaomi earlier introduced the related concept for the first time on the Xiaomi 17 Pro model, and later equipped the Pro Max version with a fixed back secondary screen to provide users with a number of auxiliary functions.
However, brands such as HONOR and vivo did not directly adopt the fixed secondary screen design, but chose the new route of magnetic suction. In fact, as early as May this year, HONOR had already taken the lead in applying this technology on the digital series HONOR 600. At that time, this magnetic accessory allowed users to customize their own tablecloths and perform various simple operations. Different from the traditional square screen, this magnetic back screen adopts a compact round appearance and is similar in size to Apple’s AirTag. If this accessory eventually appears with the Magic 9 series, I believe it will provide users with a more flexible way to interact with their phones.
