According to the latest report from Korean media “Sisa Journal”, Samsung has established a team dedicated to studying active cooling technology, with research directions including liquid cooling and air cooling systems. Among them, in terms of Galaxy mobile phone devices, Samsung is considering adding liquid cooling technology to the next generation model, using sealed liquid to accelerate the dissipation of heat energy from the internal hot spots of the phone, thereby maximizing performance.
Another type of air cooling system uses a fan to draw outside cold air into the phone and use circulation to take away heat energy. However, Park Min, laboratory director of Samsung Production Technology Research Institute, revealed that although air cooling is effective, the noise during operation and the increased weight of the fan are disadvantages that must be weighed, so it will temporarily focus on the liquid cooling system.
Currently, there are many e-sports mobile phones on the market that use liquid cooling or air cooling and other related technologies. However, most mainstream mass-market flagship mobile phones still rely on passive vapor chambers. Through active cooling, mobile phones can transfer more heat energy. Park Min explained that performance is closely related to temperature, and high temperature is also the main reason for increasing the probability of equipment failure. He also revealed that rival Apple has also begun to apply for patents related to active cooling systems, and believes that the commercialization of this technology is just around the corner.
