Xiaomi officially released its new flagship Xiaomi 17 Max, equipped with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. The new phone features the first-ever 200-megapixel Leica-certified camera system and a large 8000mAh battery that supports 100W fast charging. The price starts at RMB 4,299 and will go on sale on May 25.
In terms of appearance design, Xiaomi Mi 17 Max continues the family-style four-curved middle frame style. The back is equipped with the iconic square camera module and oversized oval corner processing. It is available in three solid color options: white, sky blue and pixel black. The body size is 77.6mm width and 8.2mm thickness, and the weight is controlled at 225g.
The screen part uses a 6.9-inch 2K resolution straight screen and introduces new SuperPixel technology. The manufacturer points out that its power consumption is lower than the traditional 1.5K screen. Combined with a special sunlight screen made of M10 luminescent material, the peak brightness can reach 3500 nits. In addition, the screen supports a 120Hz refresh rate and 2160Hz PWM dimming, and is covered with third-generation Dragon Crystal glass for protection that has a twenty-fold improvement in drop resistance.
Hardware performance is a major focus of the new machine. Xiaomi Mi 17 Max is equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and has a built-in 3D ring-shaped cold pump cooling system.
According to official data, the machine can maintain full frame performance for up to 5.7 hours under extremely high image quality settings when running high-load games such as “Genshin Impact”. At the same time, the phone adds stereo dual speakers and Xiaomi Star communication technology to further enhance the gaming experience and connection stability. In terms of storage space, the new machine provides various configuration options of 12GB or 16GB RAM and 256GB or 512GB ROM.
The photography configuration also received a major update. Xiaomi introduced a Leica-certified three-lens combination for the series for the first time, featuring the first-ever 200-megapixel Leica main lens. The lens features an ultra-high transmittance pyramid coating and a large 1/1.4-inch sensor, supporting 200-megapixel multi-frame fusion operations. In addition to the main lens, the camera system also includes a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens that supports EIS electronic anti-shock, and a 50-megapixel 1/2-inch periscope telephoto lens, which provides 3x golden portrait focal length, 6x optical lossless zoom and 15cm macro shooting functions; as for the front of the fuselage, there is a 32-megapixel selfie lens.
In terms of battery life and pricing, Xiaomi Mi 17 Max has a built-in large-capacity battery of up to 8000mAh, which supports 100W wired fast charging, 50W wireless fast charging, and 22.5W wired reverse charging functions to ensure power requirements for long-term use. The new phone is currently open for pre-sale in the mainland and is scheduled to be officially launched on May 25. In terms of price, the 12GB + 256GB version is priced at RMB 4,299, the 16GB + 256GB version is priced at RMB 4,599, the 12GB + 512GB version is priced at RMB 4,899, and the top-of-the-line 16GB + 512GB version is priced at RMB 5,299.
