Google recently released the new Gemini Intelligence, bringing a more advanced device-side artificial intelligence experience. This technology can not only automatically handle multi-step tasks across applications in the background, autonomously collect and convert information, but its Gboard keyboard will also add Rambler voice function, allowing users to input in a natural way that includes colloquial redundant words or mixes multiple languages. However, according to the latest market news and official information, this set of features has strict restrictions on mobile phone specifications and will only be available to a very small number of top Android flagship phones on the market in the short term.
The market expects that Gemini Intelligence will be the first to be installed on Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Flip8 folding screen phones, and Google has also confirmed that the Galaxy S26 series and Pixel 10 series will be supported this summer. According to details on the Android official website, this feature has a clear bottom line for hardware configuration. The most basic requirement is that the phone must be equipped with 12GB RAM or above. In order for applications to perform AI tasks through the API, the device must also support the AICore system service and have the ability to run Gemini Nano v3 or higher, which means the phone must use a qualifying flagship processor chip.
In addition to hardware performance, Google also sets extremely high standards for system versions and subsequent maintenance. Mobile phones supporting Gemini Intelligence must be preloaded with Android 17 at launch, and manufacturers are required to commit to providing operating system upgrades for at least five years and quarterly security updates for six years. In terms of system security and multimedia, the device must support the Android Virtualization Framework (AVF) and pKVM, and have audio and video processing capabilities such as spatial sound effects, HDR display, and low-light photography. This series of strict conditions makes Gemini Intelligence the most demanding AI function in the Android camp.
