Tapo recently announced the launch of its new flagship sweeping and mopping robot RV50 Pro Omni in Hong Kong. The new machine is priced at HK$3,699. It introduces advanced functions such as high-temperature washing and drying of mops, automatic removal of mops, and anti-tangle hair cutting. It reduces the specifications of previous high-end models and provides the market with a cost-effective and practical choice.
For the convenience of daily cleaning, Tapo RV50 Pro Omni is equipped with the multifunctional Omni Station automatic cleaning base. The base is equipped with a 60°C hot water cleaning mop function, which helps dissolve oil stains, and is then dried with 50°C warm air to reduce odor and bacterial growth. The base has a built-in 3L dust bag, which can last up to 60 days in ordinary households without manual cleaning, and supports the automatic addition of 500ml of exclusive cleaning fluid. In addition, the system is equipped with a stain detector that can automatically determine whether repeated cleaning is needed based on the degree of dirt on the mop. When processing carpets, the robot can not only automatically lift the mop 12mm, but also actively remove the mop from the base when dealing with long-haired carpets. It only cleans in pure vacuum mode and automatically enhances the suction power, effectively avoiding wetting the carpet material.
In terms of cleaning performance, the RV50 Pro Omni provides 15,000Pa suction power, a dual mop design with 180 RPM high-speed rotation and 8N downward pressure, which can handle fine dust and dried stains in daily households. In response to the common pain points of families with pets or long hair, the new machine adopts a triple anti-winding design of side brushes, casters and main brush. The main roller brush also has a built-in row of counterclockwise-rotating sawtooth shearing blades. In order to protect the carpet, when the robot returns to the base station, the system will automatically cut off the hair wrapped around the roller brush and inhale the dust bag, reducing the user’s trouble of manually cleaning the hair.
In order to solve the problem of cleaning dead spots in corners and furniture edges, the new machine introduces DeepEdge adaptive mopping technology. When the mop component encounters an edge, it will automatically extend outwards to perform deep cleaning in a tic-tac-toe shape and improve the welting effect. The navigation system combines 360-degree dToF navigation with front and side dual laser obstacle avoidance technology, which can accurately identify obstacles and plan routes even in low-light environments at night, reducing the chance of collision with furniture. The body has 20mm obstacle clearance and anti-drop sensing, and has a built-in 5,200mAh battery to provide stable battery life.
In terms of software and ecosystem integration, users can use the Tapo App to perform partition scheduling, designated location cleaning and other settings, and supports Smart Actions for scene linkage with other Tapo devices in the home. RV50 Pro Omni also supports Matter protocol and is compatible with mainstream voice assistants such as Google Home and Alexa, making it easy to integrate seamlessly into existing smart home networks. In terms of appearance design, the whole set of equipment takes into account the space constraints of Hong Kong’s small living environment. The width of the body base is 35cm and the height is 48cm, making it relatively compact. The water tank adopts a direct-access no-remove top cover design, which makes daily water changes more labor-saving and convenient for users. Overall, the Tapo RV50 Pro Omni, priced at $3,699, strikes a good balance between feature completeness and pricing.
