Apple officially released the iOS 26.5 operating system earlier. When this article was published, users in Hong Kong could already download and upgrade it on their iPhone. The previous major version of iOS 26.4 was launched in Hong Kong on March 25. This update was released nearly two months ago and also fixed errors and updated security information.
When this article was published, an iPhone 17 Pro could enter the iOS 26.5 upgrade page in “Settings > General > Software Update”. The system showed that the size of the update file was about 12.89GB.

This iOS 26.5 upgrade includes the addition of a beta version of point-to-point encrypted RCS messages, which allows users to display a “lock” logo and achieve better confidentiality and security when communicating with Android devices in cross-platform messages.

Other iOS 26.5 upgrade information also includes multiple iPhone enhancement projects, bug fixes, upgraded security information, and the addition of the same wallpaper as the previously released “Pride Bright” for Apple Watch.
Mobile Magazine’s short comment: Considering that the last major version of iOS 26.4 was released on March 25, this update is generally recommended to support iPhone users in upgrading to obtain a safer mobile operating environment.
