Are you looking for a way to be able to block the macOS Tahoe Update for your supported or Unsupported OpenCore Legacy Patcher Mac? I will show you two easy ways to block the Tahoe Upgrade to prevent accidental upgrades & problems with your OCLP Unsupported Mac!
EDIT NOTE: I had a section in the video where I explain why we need to do this and how the 90 day deferrals work. But the video was already long and I needed to cut that part out. Most users just want to get the job done and I understand that.
Why the Tahoe Upgrade needs to be blocked for some users:
Most will say, “Just turn off download and install updates” in system settings Software Update. While normally this will work, upgrades and updates can re enable these settings BACK ON!!! So if you did not check after the update or upgrade, the download setting can be ON! This will then cause the Tahoe upgrade to download and prepare in the background. It’s only downloading the upgrade, what’s the problem? This is not just a normal Tahoe.app installer, your system is being edited and the updater is preparing an upgrade snapshot. This breaks process BREAKS OCLP unsupported Mac root patches.
90 Day Deferral Profile explained:
The reason why I did not show this way to block Tahoe to anyone is that Apple set 90 days as the maximum amount of days that you could EVER block Tahoe. Example, the release date of Tahoe was September 15, 2025. Once the date hit December 14, 2025 (90 days later) the 26.0 Tahoe upgrade would show up for users even though we have a block profile because the 90 days has expired. You CAN NOT just re apply the profile to get another 90 days. This is why the profile is only useful for 3 months. BUT this changed in 15.7.3. For some reason the 90 day profile is being respected for the entire Tahoe run of updates. This is unexpected for sure, and is a welcome bug/change. The problem is, Apple could change this at any time, returning the original function. If that happens you will all of a sudden see the Tahoe upgrade show up again. I think this may be a OS or SUS/Pallas issue? I will update if this changes. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I dont mind with liquid glass design, since I think it's prefrence. But the battery draining issue on tahoe really sucks.

I downloaded 15.7.3 on my macbook pro 2016 and it is running great! I also did this block Tahoe because it installed Tahoe after the upgrade. But It survived!! I had a question about whether I can update to 15.7.4 is it safe for oclp users right now with OCLP 2.4.1? Thanks so much for the video!

I use the methods to block macOS Tahoe updates on my M4 Mac mini. Sequoia 15.7.4 is definitely the smoothest version of macOS for M4 Macs.
Turns out the OS version plist on my MacBook A1466 had been modified to 26.2 way before the update, so I had to literally click download and cancel to get rid of it, then I had to disable automatic updates except security responses. Then I had to root patch AGAIN. It's those little intricate details that really affects us OpenCorers

The profile works fine. But Software Update still doesn't really work properly for me ( iMac 13,2 27", 3.4 GHz Quad core intel i7 15.7.3 ). It's been the same since I moved to Sequoia. Software update just spins it wheels, without ever finding the latest. I usually don't know there is one until you post a vid, Mr Mac, and then I download the update from your website. No matter, it works fine that way.

Great video thanks I’m running sequoia on my 2010 macro 5.1 Works great but just had a problem where my iPhone isn’t recognised by iPhotos. Message says I need to update software. I’m confused, does this mean updating sequoia ( there is an update available) or does it mean upgrading to Tahoe which I can’t do? Can I just use the software update for Sequoia directly? Any advice appreciated thanks

On my 2010 MacBook running Monterey the Tahoe update keeps appearing after installing the profile and also after entering the terminal command
I have a 100% effective & undefeatable way to block all updates on unsupported Macs (which you might want to do if you're OCLPing a Mac for someone else who won't know to reapply patches):
1. Mount EFI partition containing OpenCore bootloader
2. Open config.plist (inside dir EFI/OC)
3. Look for text "revpatch"
4. Under that, you will find the value of that key, which is going to contain arguments separated by commas, or maybe just a single value. One of (or the) value(s) will be "sbvmm". Remove it.
For example if you have "f16c,sbvmm,media", make it "f16c,media" with just one comma like this. If you have "f16c,sbvmm" make it "f16c". If you just have "sbvmm" make it empty.
Reboot and boom, updates no longer show up, and even if you download a macOS installer app you can't actually start the update within macOS. Again this is only for unsupported Macs with OCLP. It works because of how the RestrictEvents kext works, which OCLP uses.
I hate that the profile method can't be set longer. 90 days is not enough when using OCLP as Tahoe just breaks everything! I run Tahoe on my 2019 16" and have lots of issues (Native support). But on any older machine using OCLP when Tahoe gets installed it's so bad. I've seen keyboard/mouse not working, wifi not working up to such severe graphical issues that the machine then force logs out.
If you use oclp I think theres a flag you can turn off so it stops thinking your mac is supported for upgrades to tahoe

@Mr.Macintosh Thanks for sharing the profile-solution. However, I still get pop-ups on my 2014 MacBook Pro with OCLP telling me “Software update available – Update to macOS Tahoe 26.2, …” How to get rid of it?
One thing you didn't mention that would happen (and which didn't happen in your video) is that when you install the iMazing-created profile in System Settings, you're asked to enter your Mac's user password. At least I was asked to do this, and I entered it. I was wondering why there was no prompt asking you to do this in your video.
Seems not to work for me. After clicking Install Profile on this Mac I do not see "Profile Downloaded" in the System Settings. I am using German language setting, could this be the reason?

I just got myself a 2013 Mac Pro that was built in 2019. Pristine condition – beautiful machine.
I updated Monterey to its latest update to get the updated firmware.
I then installed OCLP. I downloaded Sequoia and was able to install it from the app directory. It installed smoothly – no errors. OCLP then patched the WiFi first, then patched the GPU and Modern Networking. The system ran superb after that. It is marginally slower than my 2019 iMac 27” with the 8-core i9.
I installed Final Cut Pro and it recognized both graphics cards and was using them both.
I haven’t worked it hard yet, but I haven’t seen any limitations yet.
Thanks to the OCLP Developers and you! The 2013 Mac Pro is far from being a trash can. Its use will be an attractive server that sets in my living room.

Why do I need to do this? As long as I'm very careful (and I am) to not install Tahoe on my 5,1 MacPro running 15.7.3, can't I just leave things as they are? Will Tahoe eventually install automatically on its own? Or is this just in case you make a mistake and click the install button? Or you just don't like the way it looks and want it gone from the update screen (Note: It doesn't bother me at all)? I'm lost. Thanks for all you do!

Newbie here with what may be a very dumb question, but I can't lean without some mistakes… I found an article online that gave this terminal command as a way to see if Tahoe had been downloaded to your machine "cat /System/Volumes/Update/Update.plist" Does anyone know if this terminal command will actually show CORRECT

Great video… this profile thing would be a nice feature to build into OCLP, because it will probably be falsely offering the next version of macOS which will NEVER be compatible with Intel Macs.

Followed the instructions to the letter. After installing the profile, refreshing system settings and even a restart… Still tells me there´s an update. Not Tahoe specific… but the badge is still there!
Using OCLP with 15.7.3 and the "public beta method" in your video… If it updates to 15.7.4, how do I go about that, using OCLP on my unsupported iMac from 2012? Let it update and then run post-install root patch?
