   Hello Faruk. Im thinking about buying this laptop. But since its so expensive i dont want to make a wrong choice. How inportant is the "central memory" and what kind of software is using this? Its standard on 40 GB, should i ma this out? Thank you

   Is it true that teh wifi 7 is not the full standard but only 180mhz instead of 320? Geekbench AI is weird, why is the M4 max 20% vaster in single and half precission? Something not optimized in the M5 drivers? because it just doesn't make sense. Did you contact apple about this? because there were known defects with some of the cores, you might have a faulty one. The M4 max seems to hold very very good against the M5, it doesn't feel like an upgrade is nececsary

    Nanotexture glass works very well to eliminate glare, but it's so soft that it scratches far far too easily. For me, it's not worth it. Standard glass is harder and much more scratch-resistant. I got two MBP M5 Max machines – a 14-inch one with the nanotexture glass (with scratches which won't buff out even after wiping with Apple's special polishing cloth) and a 16-inch one with the standard glass (zero scratches).

    Also, I've noticed the 14-inch Max limits its performance under heavy loads although it's usually not a problem under real-world usage, you'll notice it more in synthetic full load benchmarks, such as Cinebench 2026's multicore CPU test.

    Since I check a review of yours, over a year ago, you have made more meaningful improvements than apple has done with their products- especially macbook pros, they've been playing safe and only on via their silicon chips but the rest their artitecture and design got stuck past decade.

    One yould think with all the graphics cores, the gaming on this M5 max, would break records on max settings?

    M6 max has to improve on all categories with leaps and bounds..

    with it's design, sound, gaming, weight, cameras, heat dispensation, et al.

    Apple has lot the awe factor and been in a catch up game ln Al their category of products.

    They can't not push the envelope. İt's their 50th anni and yet they always leave you wanting more.

    2027 Will be make or break year for them.

    Keep pushing the envelope.

    Focus on one use of area to test products and make it an experience that passes thru to the followers, rather going over benchmarks and all cliche.

    I have just orderd the same MacBook Pro max as you have but with out the nano glass as its to much to look after

    Since u live on the California Coast Line with all the surfers, u need to take your M5 MacBook Pro & give it the ultimate test: Gorilla tape it onto your surfboard, get out in the waves with it & then check it out and see how long the battery will keep it chugging-along as u do all of your bench tests while under the sunny California sunshine. Now that might really convince the guys & gals at AppleWorks, Inc. that u are the guy they need at the next WWDX-or whatever u call that thing up the coast. 😎😎

    As usual great editing, testing and work put into the video. Love the auto panning camera being shown, otherwise people forget artistic filming takes planning and effort.
    Wish I could afford a Max chip for some gaming (more like throw away money trying to game on a Mac lol). World of Warcraft runs good enough on my M4 and I bought it discounted just months before the release of the M5 at $1300. Kinda sucks I didn't wait a bit for that massive 30% GPU bump as the M5 went on sale pretty quickly, surprisingly. 

    Cyberpunk scales pretty well. I can expect about 30 fps on an M4, closer to 60 on an M5, over 60 on the M5 Pro and 120 on the Max. Impressive for a Mac…wonder how it does with RT though. The Switch 2 is running Resident Evil 7 & 8 with DLSS at 60 fps surprising well, and even 9 on launch. When Apple releases their version it's going to be a beast for this chipset.

    What was the step count and resolution in the Qwen Image test? I am thinking of getting an M5 Ultra when it comes out to help offset AI tasks I currently use on my PC with an RTX 4090. My 4090 does Qwen 1.0 in around 40 seconds to 1 minute depending on the steps and resolution. Assuming the Ultra is about twice as fast, then it will be a lot closer to a 4090 in performance than I expected anywhere from half to 75% the speed, it may actually be able to do a bit more than I expected.

    Since I have the M4 Max with 128GB I wont be going for this… but I am amazed of how much advancement apple makes in one generation.
    Look forward to buying a new MacBook pro in a couple of generations

    I'm upgrading to this from the M1 Pro MBP, and I'm super stoked. It's been great for me, but the lag when in Davinci with noise reduction enabled, it just doesn't work.. SO, super pumped to get this M5 Max. Awesome review!

    Feels like the same story with every M chip release… Insane improvement and everyone is happy, now doing online editing with 8K footage in Final Cut. But sadly, the reality for most of us non-Youtubers who work in a professional environment, is simply that Final Cut is not an option and we need to work with Avid Media Composer or Adobe Premiere (or god behold Davinci) on projects with several long timelines with many tracks. And here… even my M4 Max seems to not have nearly enough power to let me edit 4K footage smoothly. And I doubt the M5 Max will change that… so offline edit with proxies it is… sigh I wish these environments would be tested with every new M chip, but I understand Youtubers choose the tool they want and Final Cut simply seems to have the best optimization.

    I have a 14" MacBook Pro M3 with 8GB RAM, but I need more storage and performance pretty soon (for my major and gaming). I'm thinking about buying the new 16" MacBook Pro with the M5 Pro this week since it has a bigger screen, more ram AND storage, and is just a better machine overall. I could sell my current MacBook (it's in perfect condition) for around $1k. My only concern is I've heard rumors about a future “MacBook Ultra” or something coming later this year, and I’d be annoyed if something way better came out right after I buy this. I’ve already waited longer than I wanted to — should I just upgrade now or wait even longer 😭?
