Apple’s standard version of the iPhone 18 is rumored to not be available until next spring. However, the latest news points out that although the new phone arrives relatively late, it will still show “sincerity” and is expected to usher in two “Pro-level” upgrades.
Apple’s autumn conference is expected to be held in September. It is rumored that the iPhone 18 Pro series and the first folding iPhone will be the protagonists. As for the standard version of iPhone 18, it has not disappeared, but its launch has been postponed to next spring, and may appear together with iPhone Air 2 and iPhone 18e.
According to the latest statement from analyst Jeff Pu, the standard iPhone 18 may have two noteworthy upgrades. The first is to increase the memory from 8GB to 12GB in one go; the second is to follow the iPhone 18 Pro series and adopt a new “shrunk version of the dynamic island” design.
According to reports, one of the major changes in the appearance of the iPhone 18 Pro series this year is that the dynamic island on the front screen will be significantly smaller. Jeff Pu believes that Apple may change its previous strategy this time and devolve this new design to the standard iPhone 18 early.
Looking back on the past, when Apple first launched the dynamic island in the iPhone 14 Pro series, the standard version of the iPhone 14 still used the “bangs” design. It was not until the iPhone 15 series the following year that the dynamic island was transferred to the standard version. If this revelation comes true, it means that Apple will release new designs faster than in the past.
It is worth noting that Jeff Pu speculated that the standard version of the iPhone 18 will be upgraded to 12GB of memory, but this is different from the previous statement of analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who believed that it would only be increased to 9GB, and the two people disagreed. However, none of the above changes have yet been confirmed by Apple, and more information remains to be verified.
