Apple is rumored to be developing a new generation of Apple Pencil, which is expected to be unveiled with the new iPad Pro next year. According to the latest news from Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, Apple will simultaneously update the entry-level Apple Pencil equipped with USB-C and the high-end Apple Pencil Pro, bringing a new wave of upgrades to the product line.
The report pointed out that the focus of this change may be related to the new regulations that are about to be implemented by the European Union. As the European Union requires electronic products to improve battery replaceability in the future, Apple is adjusting related product designs. Gurman mentioned that the new Apple Pencil will use a new battery system. It is speculated that it is expected to introduce a replaceable battery design for the first time to improve the problem of the battery being unable to be replaced after aging and extending the service life of the product.
At present, the relevant information is still quite limited. Except for the battery system, there are no details about the appearance design or new functions. It is also unclear whether there will be further upgrades for writing experience, pressure sensing or touch operation.
The current USB-C version of Apple Pencil will be launched in November 2023, while the Apple Pencil Pro will come out in May 2024. If the news is true, the new generation product will be the first update after the launch of the two models, and is expected to be released together with the new iPad Pro.
